About Us
Formed in January 2007, after a move and the desintegration of a previous band in Pleasanton, CA - Barry Bestpitch was introduced to Chris Goulart by mutual good friend Lisa Manifold at a dinner function. Little did any of them know that this would be the start of a great sounding band. After jamming together, Barry & Chris found that they both complimented each others playing abilities and sounded good the first time out. The duo recruited Ralph as their drummer, which as it happened - both Barry and Chris already knew. Barry asked his previous bass player Roy Strop, to sit in for a few sessions while they looked for a bass player. After posting an ad on Craig's List, and hundreds of unwanted replies, they came across Dan Olender. Dan played with the band from Feburary 2007 until July 2008, at which time Dan decided to pursue other options that presented themselves. Strange Brew was back on the hunt for another bass player. Many players auditioned for the position with one clear standout, Steve Hicks. Steve is clearly an outstanding bassist. During his audition, within minutes he proved he was the guy for the job. In June, Steve Hicks moved on and Strange Brew was once again on the hunt for a bass player. "This time, we were looking for someone who could lay down some funk as well as rock" says Barry Bestpitch. The newest member of Strange Brew is Aron Camp. So - now complete again, Strange Brew is set to prove that Classic Rock & Blues music is alive and well...

Strange Brew - made up of experienced musicians Barry Bestpitch, Chris Goulart, Ralph Martinez and Aron Camp. Just over three (4) years together, the four are playing gigs in the Brentwood, Antioch, Byron, Livermore, Discovery Bay and the Pleasaton area, and recently as the headliner band at Six Flags - Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, Ca. Summer Concert Series. The unexpected and immediate success of their music astounded everyone - including them! Now having to transform themselves immediately into a live music act. Little time for practice and planning. They were just out there, trying to establish their style and create a performance to match the success of the music they like. "This band is growing up in front of the public, we think were making mistakes, wrong notes and such, but the fans don't seem to mind." says Barry Bestpitch. But despite the chaos, the music carries them through and the fans didn't seem to care. "The problem at first", says Dan Olender, "was that we only had about twenty songs. When asked back by our audiences to do an encore, we had nothing else to play!".
